About Us
Murray Barczak is a journal for drivers, owners and anyone who cares how a car feels after the honeymoon. Honest guides for the road ahead, written by testers and mechanics, not salesmen.
Who we are
We are a small crew of drivers, mechanics, detailers and tyre technicians who got tired of brochures pretending to be advice. Murray Barczak started in 2024 as a shared notebook passed around a workshop. Today it reaches thousands of monthly readers comparing hybrid cars, detailing products, tires, safety gear and design upgrades, and the same rule still holds: if we have not lived with it, we do not recommend it.
Our mission
Confusion-free buying for car owners. Every week we publish free news and buying guides on Hybrid Vehicles, Car Detailing, Tire Reviews, Vehicle Safety and Automotive Design, packed with real 2026 prices, measured results and photographs you can act on in minutes. We would rather answer one question well than ten questions vaguely, and we never pad a guide to reach a word count.
Editorial standards
No sponsored picks, no pay-to-rank lists, no affiliate links dressed up as advice. We buy or borrow at retail what we test, disclose every relationship, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from our own test logs, never from press releases. If a product fails in real use, we say so plainly and show the evidence.
How we test
Each guide follows the same pattern. We fit, drive or apply the product, run it through a fixed routine for at least a week, and repeat the key measurements on separate days to catch flukes. Cars cover the same route, tires face the same wet pad, and detailing products sit on the same neglected paint. Results are rechecked before publishing so the prices and scores you read match the shops.
How we fund the site
Readers keep us independent. We do not sell placements, and brands cannot pay to change a score or a ranking. Any future advertising will be clearly labelled and kept away from editorial decisions. When we recommend a cheaper product over an expensive one, that is because it performed better in our tests, not because of who sent us a review unit.
The team
Daniel Reeves (hybrids), Priya Nair (plug-in SUVs), Marcus Bell (detailing), Elena Ward (wash kits), Tom Hargrove (tires), Nina Alvarez (performance tires), Owen Hartley (dash cams), Rachel Kim (safety kits), Leo Fontaine (wheels) and Ava Lindqvist (interiors). Supported by contributing testers who review every guide before it ships and challenge any number they cannot reproduce.
Talk to us
Corrections, pitches or a test idea? Use our Contact Us to reach the team. We reply within one business day, and reader requests genuinely shape what we buy and test next.
How we choose what to test
We watch what readers ask about, what new models and products ship, and where prices move the most. A tire that improves wet stopping or a hybrid that genuinely saves fuel earns a test long before a louder product with a bigger advert. We would rather cover one niche thoroughly than everything badly.
What we do not do
We do not take money for a ranking, we do not let a brand see a review before you do, and we do not run giveaways that harvest your data. If we cannot test something properly, we say so and point you to a source we trust instead.
A note on AI
Every guide is written and checked by a named human who used the product. We use software for spelling checks and image resizing, never to invent a test result. If that ever changes, we will tell you plainly at the top of the page.
How to read a score
Every guide ends with key facts: the price, the winner and the one number that decided it. Use those to compare quickly. Read the full test when two products score closely, because the runner-up often suits a different driver or budget better than the winner.
